Blue Christmas Worship Service
Sunday December 15th at 7:00 pm
The expectation is that we will be merry and happy at Christmastime: the celebration of the Messiah's birth, family and friends gathering to feast and visit, fun times shopping for those special presents. But for some of us that isn't the case. Perhaps we've lost a job, or a loved one, or our health or we’re suffering from fatigue of the body or the dark night of the soul. Whatever your case or situation, you are not alone. The service will include readings, meditation, lighting candles and quiet music.
The service will be led by Barb Lough and members of the Caring Committee.
Join us for a free, hot lunch, once a month. This lunch is open to everyone, so please come and enjoy good food and good conversation
A free will donation is appreciated, if possible.
Everyone welcome.

The Wednesday Evening Learning Circle is wrapping up our study of John Pavlovitz's book: If God is Love, Don't be a Jerk. Leaning on this evocative title, John examines the bedrock beliefs of our religion to help us take a good, honest look at how the beliefs we hold shape our relationships with God and with our neighbours on this life's journey, determined that Love has the last, loudest, kindest word. Everyone welcome to join us.

We are asking for donations of potatoes and carrots to be added to our Thanksgiving Display on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Bring your contribution on Sunday morning. After the worship service the potatoes and carrots will be donated to the Food Pantry. The Food Pantry feeds over 500 people each week so lots of potatoes and carrots are needed. Your support is greatly appreciated.

"If God is Love, Don't Be a Jerk!" This is the title of the John Pavlovitz book that the Wednesday Evening Learning Circle will be studying. A subtext is: Thou Shalt Not Be Horrible. Pavlovitz says:
"I grew up believing that one of the markers of a life that emulated Jesus was a pliable heart capable of being broken at the distress of other human beings: when they are hungry and hurting, when they are homeless and afraid, when they grieve and feel alone, when they believe they are unloved and forgotten, when tragedy befalls them, and when injustice assails them, These things are supposed to move the needle within us if Jesus is softening our hearts, or at least I imagined so."
Join us to discover what Pavlovitz challenges us to do if we are followers of Jesus.
